Kesler Ottley
Role: Contract Designer logo design - art direction
Challenge
Kesler Ottley is a photographer based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. He specializes in landscape and portrait photography. When Kesler isn’t shooting photos he is writing his thoughts down in the form of poetry. Kesler wanted a logo that would reflect his love of writing, nature, and analog photography. The challenge was to create a logo that would work across modern digital and print mediums while containing the sincere and vintage sensibilities that Kesler is defined by.
Process
Cameras give us the ability to connect people to images. Railroads have and still act in a similar fashion by connecting the world together through a transportation of goods. I found a sense of inspiration in this metaphor and dove deep into the aesthetics of train marks. These marks and lockups contained the sense of communication and movement that I was looking for to communicate Kesler’s ideals.
