Challenge
O’Douds is an organic hair and skin care brand operating in Houston, Texas. I joined O’Douds as Creative Manager and Lead Designer. I was responsible for the design, print production, and marketing strategy for new product launches into the hair and skin care market. The challenge was to build integrity into the brand’s packaging, photography, and design touchpoints so that it could progress beyond it’s startup roots and into it’s rightful place in the hair and skin care market.
Process
Tiles and iconic fashion labels served as my two points of inspiration. The tiles gave me the idea to create a mark that had an interlocking quality to it. I then took that idea of interlocking shapes more metaphorically and explored the mechanics of door locks. There is an ornamental quality to the mechanics of antique door locks that possesses a sense of togetherness and union. These are the same qualities that Karen is guided by when designing home’s for clients.
