Cannon Brand

Role: Contract Designer logo design - art direction - identity system design - packaging design (speculative)

Challenge

Cannon’s marketing team were in need of a logo to accompany his new website. They informed me that the logo needed to reflect the modern updates present on the site while harkening back to his Texas roots in an authentic way. Following the creation of the logo, his team promptly asked me to create the album art for his 2020 release using the same logo.

Process

I explored the typefaces and layouts of hatch show prints and workwear clothing tags. Once my inspiration was formed, it was evident that I needed more context in order to achieve the authenticity that Cannon’s marketing team mentioned. I found the context that I needed by exploring Cannon’s hometown of Willis, Texas. There, I found a sense of color, voice, and form from the bluebonnets and cattle ranches that occupied Cannon’s upbringing. The end result was a logo that was personal, authentic, and bold.
